I love doilies. They are a lovely work of art. But I’m not one to use them in decorating my house. You’ll find no doilies adorning my tables or furniture. As beautiful as I think they are doilies have no place in my home decor. But on my clothes? A definite yes! Doilies to the rescue!
While you don’t need any justification for decorating you clothing with doilies, I first got the idea to use them on clothing when my dog snagged some places on my jeggings. Rather than live with the look of the snags, or throw out the jeggings, I decided to cover the snags with doilies.

In these two above examples, I just tacked down the doilies around the outside, and while I could have simply tacked down the center as well, I decided to use buttons in the center. I really like the effect.
(And you may have noticed that the snagged areas occurred in the same place on both pairs of jeggings. That’s where Valentino sits when we are in the car. Seven pounds of love.)

Lastly, I repaired a dress neckline with doilies. The neckline was wearing out, and I had no fabric that matched to repair it. (Due to Corona virus, I am staying out of stores.)

Doilies to the rescue again!

And in case you are wondering, no, I did not make these doilies. I have no experience crocheting with thread – yet. I bought a pack of doilies in multiple colors from Amazon.

Wow, what a fun idea to pin them to your pants! It looks like they were designed that way. So cute & creative!
Thanks so much, Shauna!
I have never made one either – I would think you need a tiny hook for thread!
Agreed! I have some tiny ones that cane in a pack of hooks, but they haven’t been used.
Amazing how creative you can get with doilies!
I only own one, I think, and I didn’t even buy it myself, the ex did. It’s on my hallway wardrobe with a big tiger on it.
That sounds really awesome!
Very fun idea to use a doily to patch pants! I haven’t considered that before, but it looks so fun.
It is fun! I really enjoy these doily patched pants. They are certainly not like anyone else’s now. 😀
I love this idea for fixing impactions on jeans. They are so pretty!

Thanks so much, Katherine! I think if you can do something like this, then you are helping with sustainability.
Those would be lovely on denim jackets too! Valentino is a beautiful cute little dog!
Ooh! The doilies would look fantastic on denim! Valentino is a sweet little buddy. He’s almost always where I am.
Michelle, this is very creative and lovely. Thanks for this fun idea.

Thanks so much, Linda! I hope this idea works for you.
Hey Michelle!
So good that you’re staying creative! I really like these creations, they are like the cherry on top to any outfit and they look good on the pants, they are like the unexpected detail!
And Valentino, I didn’t know Valentino! Such a cute companion!

Thank you! You’re right, I can’t be upset at Valentino. He’s a good little traveler, and has been on lots of trips – the longest to Winnipeg, Canada.
What a cute idea! Your jeggings look adorable! I am going to use this idea to cover a worn area on a favorite arm chair, thanks Michelle!

Brilliant, now how about on some pillows to match? thanks for sharing on craft schooling sunday!
LOL! Those doilies would look good on pillows, wouldn’t they?
Michelle, I love the green and blue path on the trouser. You’ve patched up the colors as well so skillfully. Loving it.
